The Honest Truth project continues with FirstCar

Today sees the announcement that national road safety initiative, The Honest Truth, is to become part of FirstCar

FirstCar has been a trusted partner for road safety professionals for over a decade and a half. Launched in 2004, FirstCar continues to develop new and innovative ways to help road safety practitioners deliver engaging and effective interventions for a variety of audiences. Today, FirstCar publishes over 2.5 million magazines annually and every new driver in the UK receives a copy when taking their theory and practical driving tests.

Alongside the print titles, FirstCar has expanded into digital publishing, video, and events, always on the lookout for innovative ways to connect with drivers and to share best practice among road safety professionals. Launched in 2016, Intelligent Instructor saw FirstCar expand its print portfolio in a different direction, with a magazine aimed at Approved Driving Instructors. This monthly publication has become the industry’s leading magazine for ADIs.  As of September 1st, 2019, The Honest Truth project will become part of FirstCar.

James Evans said ‘“Watching The Honest Truth develop over the years, I’ve always been impressed with the passion and innovation they’ve brought to young driver road safety. Identifying the opportunity for driving instructors to convey these vital road safety messages was a stroke of genius and FirstCar are delighted to be giving THT a home following the winding-up of the charity. We are all very excited to help this great initiative continue to extend its reach and influence in the new driver sector.”

Chief Superintendent Jim Nye, Chair of Trustees of The Honest Truth charity said “Ten years ago ‘The Honest Truth’ was started as a small project but rapidly became an award winning, national road safety initiative delivered in collaboration with police, fire and local authorities.  Following public sector funding cuts the decision was taken to establish the project as a national charity in 2015 but the decision was recently taken to close the charity.   We are delighted that First Car will continue the good work done to date as we still believe ‘small changes save lives’ and that as a result there will be young people walking around in the future who would not be.”

Annette Lloyd will continue to lead The Honest Truth project and said, ‘I am thrilled to be able to continue with this ground-breaking road safety initiative, working in close collaboration with driving instructors and road safety professionals across the country.”
