If you’re aged 11-17 and you’re keen to see what proper off-roading is like, Land Rover has just the thing for you – its Start Off-Road programme.
The scheme allows young enthusiasts to get behind the wheel of a Range Rover Evoque and experience true off-road driving, teaching skills and techniques that you’ll find invaluable if you get into off-roading – and some of those skills will potentially be just as useful in on-road situations.
Take part and you’ll get to try out the basics such as steering, braking and reversing, as well as more advanced skills including climbing and descending hills, crossing ditches and ridges, negotiating ruts, wet grass and mud, and even crossing water.
The Range Rover Evoque which you’d get to drive is fitted with dual controls and an automatic gearbox, and of course you’ll be doing everything with an instructor by your side – and if you want your parents to sit in, they’re welcome too.
These are the venues where you can try your hand at off-roading:
- Chavenage Estate, Gloucestershire
- Duncombe Park, North Yorkshire
- Henley-In-Arden, Warwickshire
- Honiton, Devon
- Loseley Park, Surrey
- Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire
- Ragley Hall, Warwickshire
- Rockingham Castle, Market Harborough
- Strathallan Castle, Perthshire
- West London Shooting School
Prices start at £45 for a 30-minute session, with 60-minute and 90-minute slots also available at £89 and £124 respectively.
